Luminess celebrates National Makeup Day 2021

Luminess celebrates National Makeup Day 2021 with Luminess Airbrush! With National Makeup Day 2021 around the corner, I thought this would be a great time to remind you “non-airbrushers” what you’re missing out on (if you’re still out there).

As my loyal makeup lovers, you know that ANY LUMINESS Airbrush System is a life-changing tool. All Luminess Airbrush Systems are a routine must-have for SO many reasons, but here are a few:

1. LUMINESS IS EASY TO USE

Although airbrush systems look very different from traditional makeup tools, they are just as easy…easier actually.

With some practice, the application will feel just as easy and natural. Were you a pro the first time you applied traditional foundation? Doubt it!

All you have to do is follow the basic airbrush rules:

-Keep the system four fingers away from your face

-Always keep the system moving and lightly pull on the trigger

-Rinse system with water after every use

If you follow those simple rules, I promise you will absolutely LOVE your results. I’m by no means a makeup artist, I was intimidated at first but once I got the hang of it-I couldn’t picture my life without airbrushing.

2. LUMINESS IS VERSATILE

When you think of airbrush, you probably only think about foundation, but did you know you can complete most of your makeup routine and more with an airbrush system?

You can accomplish killer contour, perfect eyebrows, eye-catching shadow looks, and root cover all with any of Luminess’ Airbrush Systems.

Oh, and I can’t forget about using the airbrush systems for a sunless tan, especially during the cold months of winter. Luminess Airbrush Systems offer a feature for everyone, even if you’re not a makeup person, you can give your body a glow, fill in your roots or bald spots-the list is endless.

A LUMINESS Airbrush System is all your makeup brushes in one device!

3. LUMINESS IS CUSTOMIZABLE

With traditional foundation I always struggled to find the perfect shade, I was always in-between shades, and manually mixing them never quite worked!

However, with Luminess’ wide variety of shades, you can mix foundations within the actual system. This feature makes it so easy to match your color perfectly, all year round.

No need to stress about finding your shade, you can virtually try-on airbrush foundations on the LUMINESS website AND you can also use the foundation finder to see what the experts recommend.

These color matching features take out all the guesswork and make it sooooo easy to find the best shade for your complexion.

4. LUMINESS PRODUCES RESULTS

Last, but not least..the famously flawless airbrush results.

It’s safe to call LUMINESS’ airbrush foundation a triple threat; the finish is natural, long-lasting, and provides amazing coverage.

If you are a makeup enthusiast like myself, you understand how rare it is for a product to have all of those qualities.

Airbrush foundation is weightless but still covers my wrinkles, blemishes, and discoloration, my skin looks flawless and that’s just the foundation.

With the other airbrush products, like Brow & Root, or Airbrush Cosmetics, I never have to feel insecure about my hairline, my body always has a little extra glow, and I can make my eyebrows balanced in shape, size, and fullness.

Awarded Best Airbrush Makeup for sensitive skin by Woman’s World.

I could go on for days, but there’s four solid reasons why you NEED an Airbrush System. So, I think this is your sign to join the airbrush world IMMEDIATELY. A LUMINESS Airbrush System is the perfect gift to yourself for National Makeup Day, get yourself the results you deserve, NOW!

#BigLipstickEnergy: The 3 Lipsticks I’m Obsessed With Right Now

“What lip is that?” A professional lipstick critic reveals all.

I’m a serial lipstick dater. So many lip products slide onto my desk. Some I double-tap and have all the heart eyes for. Others I ghost and leave on seen. This is #BigLipstickEnergy, an honest breakdown of how I feel about the latest lip launches. Read on for the three lipstick flings I’m keeping in rotation for now. Next week, I’ll have a new roster.

Chromatic Lip Stain in Classic Red

Luminess Cosmetics luminessbeauty.com

$24.00

THE DETAILS:

Metallic eyeshadow ruled 2019 as one of the biggest makeup trends of the year. In 2020, let’s not leave our lips out—they deserve to shine, too. Start with this lip stain, which, unlike others on the market, won’t weigh your lips down with gunky, chunky, glittery excess. Instead, it feels smooth, soft, and velvety on your lips, and dries down quickly to a multidimensional, metallic finish. The formula does not budge one bit, so you won’t have to worry about mirror-checking every few minutes.

WHY I’M OBSESSED:

Every now and then, I have an urge to remix classic reds with a fun finish, like metallic. This sparkly red shade stands out against my skin tone and makes me want to selfie my life away. More importantly, the soft stain it’s low-key af to wear. It seriously takes zero energy throughout the day. After an hour, I literally forgot I was wearing it until someone complimented me.

Beauty companies like…Luminess…have all dropped Disney-themed collections within the last few months

Colourpop Is Launching Its New Disney “Midnight Masquerade” Makeup Collection — Here’s What We Know

If you didn’t know, Disney has been on a helluva roll this year when it comes to makeup collaborations. Beauty companies like Besamé Cosmetics, Luminess, and Funko have all dropped Disney-themed collections within the last few months, and fan-favorite brand Colourpop has jumped on the bandwagon, too. In fact, it’s already dropped two Disney-inspired collections so far — the Designer Collection and the Disney Villains Collection. And now, the brand is back for round three with its new Midnight Masquerade Collection, which celebrates eight iconic Disney princesses.

The new line, which is set to launch on October 7, was named after a series of limited-edition Disney princess dolls and features individual makeup bundles created for each one. (You can also purchase the products separately, should you want to mix and match.) As for the princesses that inspired the collection, you have Belle, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Tiana, Esmeralda, Megara, Aurora, and lastly, Giselle, who some will remember is from the live-action film, Enchanted.

Beyoncé entranced onlookers…thanks to Sir John, and The Lion King Makeup Collection

The Best Beauty Instagrams of the Week: Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, and More

A few serious eye looks made their way onto the feeds of Instagram this past week. Beyoncé entranced onlookers at the Lion King Premiere in London with gold-flecked lids, blushed cheeks, and a sheer lipstick, thanks to her trusted makeup artist, Sir John, and his Lion King makeup collection for Luminess Cosmetics. Meanwhile makeup artist Anne Sophie Costa showed off her steady-handed skills on model Yoon Young Bae with a double-winged obsidian liner. Artists Jenna Kristina and Laurie Heaps made a playful statement on Rowan Blanchard with neon green shadow in the inner corners of her eyes, a liquid flick of liner, and a pinned-down pixie cut.

Speaking of eyes, rapper Megan Thee Stallion stepped out with rose gold lids and a flawless foundation, while wavy tresses brought the look together. On a similar wave (pun intended), a couple beauties showed off defined ringlets: Pose star Indya Moore snapped a golden hour shot with glowing skin and a note that she’s “feeling grateful for love.” Hairstylist Lacy Redway worked her magic on actress Zazie Beetz, whose crown of chestnut coils elegantly framed her shimmering skin and rosy cheeks.

Muses worldwide embraced the summer sun, as they are wont to do when July fades into August. A beachside Kelsey Lu rocked silver-streaked braids and turquoise brows in Martha’s Vineyard. Alicia Keys made some time for a little outdoor meditation, and model Behati Prinsloo showed off her wake-surfing skills. Jada Pinkett-Smith spread some of her magic on a boat in Greece: bronzed skin, a smile, and a reminder that a joyful “hot girl summer” is still in full effect.

Golden Girl! Beyoncé’s Makeup Artist Sir John Reveals How to Get Her Lion King Premiere Look

Sir John shares the exact products he used to create the Lion King star’s cat eye.

Even before The Lion King debuts on July 18, Beyoncé is making jaws drop. The mega-star has had two major outings to promote the movie, each equally fierce. And for her second red carpet, in which the star shined in a pleated marigold gown, her makeup artist Sir John spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about how he created her coordinating bronzy beauty look using products from his limited-edition The Lion King makeup collection made in partnership with Luminess.

With Queen Bey’s gown and hairstyle picked out, Sir John decided on a golden with a 3-D-like quality eye to complete the look.

“I love playing with textures,” explains the pro, who blended a matte shade from his palette on her lid and accented that with a shimmery one on the center of the lids.

“I really wanted to create a nice daytime smoky eye using browns, an antique, champagne gold color like Nala, and a warm gold like Simba,” he reveals. “It’s all about strategically placing these colors so that no matter where my client turns, their look is never too shimmery.”

He also gave the voice of Nala a feline flick with coffee brown eye liner. A winged look “just lifts the eye,” he says.

After tapping on foundation with a Beautyblender, Sir John used his sculpting palette “to give the face a subtle architectural structure.”

To avoid a costume-y look, he advises “slowly building up a shadow” in areas like “underneath the cheekbone, underneath the jawline, and temples.” He adds, “this isn’t blending stripes. It’s a little more editorial and polished.”

On her lips, he applied a brown lip liner, his Pounce lipstick and a cinnamon-tinted lip gloss.

The pro also used a touch of body makeup on Beyoncé collarbones.

For Sir John, seeing his longtime client on the carpet in his very own makeup was picture-perfect.

“I literally have never worked so hard on one project in my life. But it’s been a labor of love,” says the pro, who created an array of earthy shades that could be work to the office, or a night on the town.

“I really tried to look out for women, like my mom, who just doesn’t have time to put on eye shadow,” he says.

And so far, the pro hasn’t disappointed. “Beyoncé was happy, my mom is happy, and if my grandmother were still here, she’d be proud,” he says.

Still, his recent win has not set in. “I’m always next, next, next, because my goal is to keep it moving,” he admits. “But I’m never not grateful, my mama won’t let that happen! I am still just a guy from Harlem.”

Beyonce’s Makeup Artist Sir John Unveils ‘Lion King’ Makeup Collection

When Disney announced its voice cast for The Lion King, the whole world zoomed in on one word: Beyonce. Beyonce will be the voice of Nala, Simba’s childhood playmate, and eventual wife.

Beyonce has long been famous for her inspired outfits, and stunning makeup and hair. For many years, she’s worked with one makeup artist: Sir John. Sir John worked with her on her Lemonade tour, her many Met Gala looks, her music videos, and her Instagram reveals.

Recently, Sir John announced a creative partnership with Luminess and Disney to create a Lion Kininspired makeup palette, Beyonce’s (or Beyonce-adjacent) first foray into makeup.

So, when Sir John announced he was doing a lion king – inspired palette, people got super excited.

The line itself looks amazing.

It’s a blend of neutrals and brights, in strong pigments. The packaging is sexy and on brand. The possibilities are endless.

That bright red is stunning. Finding red lipstick is like finding the holy grail. This lipstick is featured on a variety of skin tones on the Luminess page and it looks bright without being too orange on everyone.

Sir John said he was inspired by his trip to Africa.

He wanted to bring the colors found in African nature to his Lion King collaboration. Exotic neutrals tend to work on everyone — natural colors suit almost every skin tone.

All of this build-up to the Lion King premiere means basically one thing: Incredible outfit and face looks from Beyonce and hopefully a new song or two to celebrate!

The collection features highly pigmented formulas inspired by the African landscape

The Lion King remake is generating a lot of buzz and not just for its all-star cast (Beyoncé, Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor…). On the heels of Beyoncé rocking a fierce lion look to the Wearable Art Gala comes the news that her longtime makeup artist Sir John is launching a new collection with Luminess.

The collection features highly pigmented formulas inspired by the African landscape. It’s composed of eight pieces: Kingdom Sculpting Palette, Can’t Wait to Be Queen Eyeshadow Palette, Circle of Life Highlighter, Legacy Tinted Lip Balm, Be Brave Matte Lipstick Pounce, Be Brave Matte Lipstick Lion Mane, Be Prepared Liquid Lipstick Romantic Atmosphere and Be Prepared Liquid Lipstick Trouble. And the packaging is super collectable boasting etchings of iconic characters and scenes straight from the film. If you’re already obsessed, you can even score a limited-edition vault with all eight pieces.

Sir John x Luminess The Lion King Collection will be available on Luminess’ website on June 15 and via Disney.com the following day. Ulta Beauty will also sell the collection online on June 16 and in stores July 1, leaving you plenty of time to pick up all the pieces before checking out The Lion King in theaters July 19.
